have you noticed how the world is completely against left handed people?
school desks- as if those desks arent uncomfortable enough, lets just put the arm rest only on the right side, which makes writing with your left hand completely akward sissors- cutting with sissors and getting straight lines or good curves is just hard computer mouses/mice/meeces- theyre on the right, which although over time you adjust, it still makes drawing steadily difficult, especially when vectoring, which might just account for part of the reason im so terrible at it writing left to right- with our writing system, moving you hand left to right with your right hand is quite easy because you can pull it along, where as lefties have to push their hand along the paper, which takes more energy, is slower, and it gets the side of your hand rediculously dirty because it rubs the paper and smears the lead/ink see, its not easy, and its not fair. we should start a left handed peoples support activist group, or something of the sort. i mean sure, i may be able to get a scholarship for it, but thats about the only advantage. this unfair treatment of left handed people is unjust, and at the very least they should provide some lfet handed desks |

QUOTE(atpx @ Nov 22 2004, 8:46 PM) w.t.f.? You're asking if I'm Chinese or not? Yes, I'm Chinese. Writing correctly is important for me because I'm in Chinese school and have the class for high school. It's important to go left-->right because that's the correct way to do it, and it helps me remember how the stroke order is. THE END OF THE WORLD IS COMING? Why are you inflating the situation? I have no problem with using scissors with my right hand, and smudging does happen to me, especially if the ink is not fast dry. I NEVER said writing characters with your left hand is unnatural. WHEN THE FCUK DID I SAY THAT? I said it was fcuking frustrating. NO ONE write Chinese with pencil like they write with a brush? WHERE THE FCUK did you get that statement?! That sentence itself is IGNORANT. The fact that you asked me if I was Chinese by DEFINITION is IGNORANT! Calligraphy is art. OK, yeah, I take Calligraphy for art class, that's another reason left-->right is important. Chinese writing may not be calligraphy, but Chinese writing OBSERVES RULES. Like, Oh I DON'T KNOW, maybe like how you write the character correctly? I think you're incredibly rascist. "CHINESE WANNABE" "Are you even Chinese." I haven't mentioned race in any part of my posts before this, I haven't asked anyone if they were Chinese, yet you DECIDE to add race into it. Oh! I see, just because someone isn't Chinese, they CANNOT learn Chinese, or observe and publicly talk about its rules? You may not say you are denoting these statements, but by your post, that is what you are telling me. Ignorance. Let's see which one of us is more ignorant on this matter. The person who is left handed and takes Chinese class and calligraphy. Or you. [EDIT] GET off your FCUKING high horse for GOD SAKES! I know writing right to left is wrong, so get your f*cking ass off my back about it. I'm not inflating the situation, it's called SARCASM. I'm saying, if you've been left hand dominant your whole life, then how is it hard to write from left to right? Keep in mind, English is also written left to right, how come people don't complain about that?! Fine, if you hate the word unnatural so much, let me replace that with "frustrating". QUOTE If you think writing Chinese characters with your left hand is frustrating, then why do you write like that at all? Sorry, but after I changed that sentence, it still makes sense and doens't change the meaning of my sentence. Okay, you're right. Saying that NO ONE writes Chinese with a pencil like they write with a brush is wrong, because everyone is different. But just because SOME people may write like that, doesn't make it RIGHT. I thought someone like you so hung up on character correctness would catch that. All I find you doing is constantly telling me how writing left to right is correct, when that is completely irrelevant to the situation at hand. Tell me, how is saying that practicing the wrong Chinese writing techniques RACIST? I never insulted any one group of people in my post. I didn't say ANYTHING about how "Chinese Wannabe" was pointed at a group of people. Isn't it appropriate for me to address the fact that this is about Chinese culture? Because, YOU were the one who said "writing Chinese characters from left to right is frustrating", and YOU were the one who implied people DO write normally like they do in calligraphy. If this isn't about Chinese culture, I don't know what is. And isn't it correct to learn something CORRECTLY? I didn't say someone not Chinese couldn't learn Chinese! I'm getting pissed at the fact that people don't open their eyes and OBSERVE - if you want to learn Chinese, learn it the right way. If you're not Chinese but can still give me true reasons and thoughtful observations about Chinese culture, then sure, I'll give you that respect. But if you're not Chinese and give me all this crap stereotype sh*t that isn't true, of course I won't give you any respect. Because I'm sorry, sweetie, I am too LEFT HANDED, I TAKE A CHINESE CLASS, AND I ALSO TAKE CALLIGRAPHY. Maybe you should get your facts straight before you go around accusing people. |
