Songwriters and Poets, Are you one? Options

I searched to see if this thread has already been created but didn't find one. So sorry if the search function didn't find it.

Anyways, is there any people in here who write songs or poems? I write songs and play guitar to them. I just like to meet other artists.

Here is a song of mine:

Today is the day where summer
seems to be going down the home stretch
into a dull fall and then its winter
seems we always have the grayest winters here
but tonight the sky will be filled with color
illuminated by the fire, sparks, and lightning
of celebration
everyone is celebrating their independence
everyone is celebrating their freedoms
I hope you enjoy your independence
I hope you enjoy your freedoms
I hope you enjoy them from me

This day seems to have
a different meaning for us both
but in the end I guess it is essentially all the same
can you really be so incoherent to what I'm saying
how everything was so simple
how I fought so hard, to die,
and burn, blister, and peel
on a battlefield where I was the only enemy

So now I fall from this sky
like the stick from your bottle rockets
I will crash and be forgotten
after the short amusement I gave
before you shoot another
I'll lay here and watch you
before I'm taken to your trash

So celebrate tonight
Celebrate your independence
Celebrate your freedom
Celebrate the fact that I'm no longer around
and would you shoot off a firework for me
something so grand it will ignite the sky
and everyone will know it was for me
and maybe you'll shed a tear
as I always shed them for you
maybe then I won't feel like a snap
something to throw hard against the concrete
and scream out your name in pain
while you laugh in amusement
or maybe you'll just step on me
and hear the screaming beneath your feet

so celebrate
celebrate for me
for I have nothing left to celebrate
when forever isn't forever
and I can only be a fountain
and spew these words
that dazzle the audience
and make them applaude
too into the colored words
to understand the meaning written on my side
"abandon all hope, for I might die"

This is it, this is the grand finale
this is where it all comes together
and in a loud cheer everyone celebrates
and you join in, and yell loud
and I'll yell loud, but not a cheer
more of a scream
louder than the booms and ahhs
for I'm losing, not gaining
and I'm not celebrating this time
I'll scream until my lungs explode
and I'll fall like the stick from your bottle rocket
when the smoke clears I won't be near
you'll have your independence from me

Nope...my poems or whatever never rhyme. I'm more of a computer art person than a poet.
