Whatcha think of it? tongue.gif I only joined in February, but...from what I remember, they didn't have resolutions dealing with or relating to current politics. mellow.gif

hahah, i was a lurker, but i saw this topic and i had to register! biggrin.gif

i'd say that environment vs. economy is indeed pretty easy to apply to real life situations but individual vs. the common good is a bit more abstract. i prefer more pragmatic topics anyway. I really liked the environment vs. economy one though.

resolved: that the united states has a moral obligation to promote democratic ideals in other nations.

i would've preferred the racial profiling topic, but hey, got what we got :P
i think this has plenty of good, pragmatic real-world applications, such as iraq, etc.
also notice that the topic does not state IMPOSE.. therefore one could argue that, say, the U.S. sending in diplomats to oversee elections in a fledgeling democracy could be defined as promotion..

just some thoughts. I haven't even debated on this topic yet. First tournament on it next weekend! biggrin.gif

yes, here in texas policy is more popular than LD unfortunately.
