There’s so much beauty in the world,
Preserved in thin bodies,
High cheek bones,
And amazing facial features.

Yet, beauty is so much beyond that,
In a room full of women and girls,
The prettiest isnt’t the one with the thinnest waist, the best hair, or best make-up,
It’s the one who can stand up and be there with the highest confidence.

So many girls get fake ideas from the media,
It drives them to stupid things,
Starving themselves, wearing pounds of make-up,
Because they want to be someone else.

I sit in a room with a mirror,
And one after another the same things run through my head,
“I’m ugly,” “I’m fat,” “He doesn’t like me because of my weight and looks,”
And that is when I realize….

I’m the girl who stares longingly at the T.V.,
Who will be driven to stupid things,
Who will hate herself,
Who calls herself bad things.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder,
And I realize I have to think I’m beautiful,
Before anyone else can,
I have to love myself before anyone else will.

There’s more to a person that what you see,
Leave the illusions behind,
Beauty doesn’t exist on the exterior,
Its what’s on the inside.
