QUOTE(DrNick311 @ Nov 7 2004, 12:12 PM) I have an odd feeling that you know nothing about computers. A Xeon is a server-only chip. Running GAMES on it will get you nowhere. Currently, the Athlon 64 is your best bet for gaming. Just because the Xeon is the most expensive thing out there doesn't mean it'll be perfect for what you plan to use it for. Take Macs, for instance. They're used widely by graphic artists because of their capabilities in that field, but gamers are out of luck with them. You might want to rethink your statement that using a Xeon processor won't help your games. Take a look at the $7,000+ Falcon that was recently listed as one of the highend desktops in PCMagazine. That thing uses a 3.6ghz Xeon processor, why the Xeon processor? I don't know, but obviously Falcon's got some ideas. To say that you won't get any sort of boost out of Xeon processors is false. Plus if you're running dual Xeon processors, it'll be like running Dual graphics cards utilizing SLi, you'll see a performance boost, of course it won't be 100% but it will still be there. But that's gonna run you a lot of money. I'd suggest getting an Athlon 64 4000+ and then overclocking it, but if you have the money to get dual xeons then I say go for it. Of course you're only running an x800 pro so that'll be your bottle neck, moreso than your processors. You'd probably want a GeForce 6800 Ultra, it could easily school a x800 XT plantnum edition. |
