what is pg-13, as pertaining to society? Options

this is ridiculous. the booty thread was closed, and i'm assuming here that one or a few of the mods deemed it un-pg13.

lets elaborate on what pg-13 is ok kids?

PG-13 Parents Strongly Cautioned - Some material may be inappropriate for children under 13. Signifies that the film rated may be inappropriate for pre-teens. Parents should be especially careful about letting their younger children attend. Rough or persistent violence is absent; sexually-oriented-nudity is generally absent; some scenes of drug use may be seen; some use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words may be heard.

nudity:

1. Having no clothing; naked.
2. Permitting or featuring full exposure of the body: a nude beach.

last time i checked, the asses in that thread were pretty much clothed. when kids start exposing there bumhole, then i can see how that'd be over PG-13, but yknow what? i see clothing,whether it be someones underoos, or a miniskirt / wtfe, it doesnt matter what, but i see material/some sort of fabric on the asses in that thread.

look at all the crap they allow in pg-13 movies, and tell me this board isn't pg-13 as well.

and i know someones gonna be like "this isnt the movies, this is real life, and there are people under 13 here"

ok yknow what, shut the hell up, because when you refer to PG-13 or any MPAA rating, you are refering to the standards and guidelines pertaining to that rating in which they assign anything in the media. you can't say "this is supposed to be pg-13, but not like in the movies" because that doesnt even make sense. you cant give a rating to life in general, or how society interacts; i'm sorry but that kind of thing is too broad to set a rating on. and yeah, i'm fully aware of the handful of preteen kids we have on createblog, but that still doesnt change the fact that this board is PG-13. When someone tells us that its supposed to be PG, then I might see how the fact that there are under-13 kids on this board even relates.

i agree. i don't see what's not PG-13 or explicit about a clothed booty. Are you saying it's too "R rated"?

Let's elaborate on the guidelines for a PG-13 rating, shall we?


From the MPAA (Movie Picture Association of America), the guys who set the guidelines for these ratings:

A PG-13 film is one which, in the view of the Rating Board, leaps beyond the boundaries of the PG rating in theme, violence, nudity, sensuality, language, or other contents, but does not quite fit within the restricted R category. Any drug use content will initially require at least a PG-13 rating. In effect, the PG-13 cautions parents with more stringency than usual to give special attention to this film before they allow their 12-year olds and younger to attend.

If nudity is sexually oriented, the film will generally not be found in the PG-13 category. If violence is too rough or persistent, the film goes into the R (restricted) rating. A film's single use of one of the harsher sexually-derived words, though only as an expletive, shall initially require the Rating Board to issue that film at least a PG-13 rating. More than one such expletive must lead the Rating Board to issue a film an R rating, as must even one of these words used in a sexual context. These films can be rated less severely, however, if by a special vote, the Rating Board feels that a lesser rating would more responsibly reflect the opinion of American parents.

Basically, this is saying that if it's beyond PG rating but not quite rated R, then it fits in there with PG-13. We can all agree that that's where the booty thread would fit, correct?

PG-13:

parents are alerted to be very careful about allowing preteenage children to view this film
may contain nudity, profanity and sexually-derived words
may contain violence
may contain drug use 

"May contain nudity". I don't even see any nudity in the booty thread.


For reference, the meaning of "R rated":

R:"Restricted, Under 17 Requires Accompanying Parent Or Adult Guardian." In the opinion of the Rating Board, this film definitely contains some adult material. Parents are strongly urged to find out more about this film before they allow their children to accompany them.

An R-rated film may include hard language, or tough violence, or nudity within sensual scenes, or drug abuse or other elements, or a combination of some of the above, so that parents are counseled, in advance, to take this advisory rating very seriously. Parents must find out more about an R-rated movie before they allow their teenagers to view it.

Tell me, what has been posted in these forums that follow the R rating rather than the PG-13 rating?


Here's another example of a board/forum who adheres to a PG-13 guideline:

As many of you know we have maintained a stance that this is a site that should be safe for young children to visit. Also we would not want children exploited in any way. Because of this, we have maintained that photos should maintain a PG-13 rating. We know this term is not a world-wide known standard. The best definition we can give for this is... no "body part" that would normally covered by a bikini bathing suit will be posted (for girls) or a boys bathing suit for the boys.

On photos that are to be posted we have come up with the following policy for photos.

"All photos to the web site are to meet the following standards; 1) no photos deemed by a vote of the discussion list team to be provocative or sexual by nature will be allowed, 2) no images with pasties or thongs are allowed, 3) the general guideline states that any body part that is normally covered by a conventional bathing suit should not be exposed, 4) no nipples may be exposed for a girl of any age..."

I mean, when you say that a board is rated PG-13 you're referring to the ratings that are given for a PG-13 movie because thats what these ratings are based upon. If somehow the guidelines they want to set are different from the ones the MPAA have already set, then don't even bother using an MPAA rating to set guidelines for these boards and just list out the rules instead.

Sounds like they're looking to have a G or PG rating instead.
