div.blogheader, .caption {
/* edits the dates */
font-family:Comic sans ms;
text-transform:uppercase;
font-size:11px;
line-height:30px;
font-weight:bold;
filter: alpha (opacity=100, finishopacity=0, style=2);
height: 1px;
background-color:#9966ff;
color:white;
letter-spacing:1px;
text-align: center;
}

----------------------------------------

Okay, the above code with the color "9966ff" was what I was going to change my color to when I changed my xanga background to black. This is the code that kinda fades the blog header, but when I put my xanga background to black, the purple color (9966ff) becomes dark, and it fades to black, or near back. I was wondering if there was a way to go from that color, to lighter...without making the entire thing DARK and then fading to black. wink.gif

let me know if it was confusing, I'll try to clarify.

maybe you could pick a darker shade of the same purple, and then make the starting opacity smaller.
