There were several of you who suggessed this alternative to women who were raped or do not want to conceive a child in the "abortion" thread.
Of course, I'm going to make a statement that the pill isn't that great of an alternative (just to keep us entertained). Yes, its effectiveness as a contraception is almost a sure deal if it is taken as prescribed. However there is one major complication: The morning-after pill could be viewed as a women's way to safeguard her from getting an unwanted pregnancy, however, it does not, in any way, safeguard her from becoming infected with HIV and other STDs. Many women are dependent on birth control pills without considering their chances of being infected either with HIV or STDs. Calling the pill "emergency contraception" isn't going to deter most women from using it just as they use any other birth control pills. So anyway, this is NOT meant to be a pro-choice/pro-life discussion, but strictly your opinions on the morning-after pill. |

It's a way to prevent unwanted pregnancy.. Everytime I have sex with my girlfriend, afterwards.. she takes a morning after pill just to be safe.. I mean, if you have the pill, it would be moronic not to take it.. especially if you're not wanting to get pregnant.
