lol. i juss wanted to know. my friend thinks that the government is like evil or something and wants to rule us like a tyrant or something. it's actually kinda funny

The government forces you to give them 47% of your income, making it the world's biggest bank robber, and and its regulations (especially the FDA and DEA) are estimated to lead to over two hundred thousand deaths a year. Secret police organizations like the FBI and the DEA basically have a license to kill without penalty (and where they did kill innocent people, such as at WACO and Ruby Ridge), the agents involved were actually promoted. The government routinely throws people in jail without telling them what they did wrong (which is the same as if I were to kidnap you and keep you in my basement).

biggest bank robber? i think we're privileged to live in such a great nation. 47% is indeed alot, but not everyone pays that much. also, it's not like the US doesn't do things for us in return

killing innocent people in Waco? the Davidians locked themselves in a school with military weapons, not street legal weapons. they had kids in there too. what would you do if that happened? and i don't think they purposely lit the school on fire. im pretty sure it was unintentional

The government DOES make you do a lot of things: Pay taxes, join the army during war, get a permit to work on your house, get permission to get a job, etc. We have great lives -- but they would be so much better if we had more freedom, and twice as much money.

realize that 75% of the world is not as educated as you are, and with more freedom and money, they wouldn't really spend/use it in good ways.

If a government imposes direct taxes to fund things that are against the Constitution (which is most of what it does -- please find social security, welfare, etc. in the Constitution, while the Tenth Amendment clearly says things that the COnstitution doesn't explicity mention go to the States) is a form of unlawful government, which is actually bordering on anarchy.

you gotta put these things in context. these programs were all made during depressions. these programs helped out millions of citizens. the US can't just suddenly decide to quit funding those programs. yes, it will eventually disappear, but it will gradually, not suddenly.

In addition, permits ought only to apply TO PUBLIC SPACE -- i.e., you need a permit to drive on a state-owned road (which is most of the roads). However, you should NOT need a permit to do things to your own property -- like you should not need a permit to build a house on your own land, or fix your house, etc.

this is kinda extreme, but according to your reasoning, then i should be able to post up huge pictures of naked women outside of my house...because i own the land. the people around me can always turn around and not look at it..because it's my land and i shall do whatever i please.

like i said, its an extreme example, but it could happen.

There should be a uniform standard -- if the government should be allowed to hide the reasons for invading a country from me, I should be allowed to hide my Cayman Islands bank account from the government.

in a way, that's true. but it's all about defense. what would you be doing with a bank account in the Cayman Islands? buying bombs?
