Most people I've talked to about this are so set in their way and thinking that they wont take in any thing about the swastika, such as the GOOD the symbol actually stands for. The Swastika was around a longggggggg ass time before the nazis ever took it in, and ever since swastika has been marred by that event.
In the earlier days the Swastika normally stood for the sun, power, good luck even in the early twentieth century the swastika was still a symbol that was used commonly for it's true meaning. For instance, the swastika was a common decoration that was on cigarette cases, postcards, coins, and buildings. During World War I the swastika could even be found on the shoulder patches of the American 45th Division and on the Finnish air force until after World War II.
I've worn the swastika out before and had it up on my website once. I got called an ignorant nazi kid and other names...when really in my mind they are the ones being ignorant.

There is a great debate as to what the swastika means now. For 3,000 years, the swastika meant life and good luck. But because of the Nazis, it has also taken on a meaning of death and hate.
These conflicting meanings are causing problems in today's society. For Buddhists and Hindus (I'm buddhist btw), the swastika is a very religious symbol that is commonly used. This guy Chirag Badlani i read about went to make some photocopies of some Hindu Gods for his temple that while standing in line to pay for the photocopies, some people behind him in line noticed that one of the pictures had a swastika and they called him a NAZI!
Since the Nazis were so effective at their use of the swastika emblem, many dont even know any other meaning for the swastika. Can there be two completely opposite meanings for one symbol?

So, I ask, what are your thoughts tongue.gif

QUOTE
like how the pentigram was originally for wicca practices but now that satan worshipers use it that's all it means.

One point upward, a pentagram was a symbol for Jesus Christ. The 5 points being his head, arms, and legs upon the cross.

One point downward, it symbolizes a goat. There are different ways of seeing the goat. One being a symbol in itself for the devil. Another may be used for Wiccan beliefs and whatnot.. I wouldn't know. I am not Wiccan.

And to th5418: If it is a mirror image, it is seen as the same thing.
