Sure I like Viet food, but I also like Italian, Tex-Mex, and Cajun/Creol.
My Mom is teaching me to cook Viet food only because she thinks I'll marry someone who'll want to eat Viet food instead of my other favorites and then he'll be disappointed that I can't cook anything... I told her that just means I'll have to be rich enough to eat out everyday at a decent Viet restaurant. Or it could be just a ploy to get me cooking dinner instead of her doing it  , oh well  .
