What are your views on conformity?
I personally do not think it's okay for someone to conform (willingly, anyway)... Conforming just takes away from you being your own individual and having your own ideas, beliefs, and opinions. |

Well, I actually appreciate some people who are conformists...
I believe that there is a trend in non-conformity, thus making true non-conformists to appear contradicting. So, lets forget about the "trend" for a while, and just think of what conformity is and isn't and then just use common sense. Saying that "I do not conform" will not make sense if you take too literally. Why? You happen to wear clothes, therefore aren't you conforming to standards set by society? But when you use common sense, conforming to society's rule of wearing clothes in public isn't so bad now, is it? "'He who would be free,' says a fine thinker, 'must not conform.'" - Oscar Wilde. Eccentricity is a good thing most of the time, but if everyone possesses it, then we would not have distinction between leaders and followers since everyone will want to do things their own way. Because it's not good for every human to be too eccentric, we must have conformity, so it's not so bad of a thing until someone decides to misuse it. |
