My friend is like REALLY botherin' me w/ this math problem rite now... and it's buggin' me out... literally. As I do not know the answer myself, so I am wonderin' if the kind people @ CreateBlog could help! Why is it important to put the numbers in order? [As when finding the median.] ::edit:: That title isn't really helpin' me out... is it? Confuses some pplz it does. The question was that why is it that you have to put the numbers in order from least to greatest or vice versa? Why must you put in order? (I know how to find the mean, median, mode, and range. So if you're 'bout to answer among the lines of that... don't answer.) |

ok, you write the numbers in order so you can find the middle number. what i do is tick off and smallest number and then the largest number.
for ex- in 4 6 12 21 39, i would cross out 4, then cross out 39 because those are the largest and smallest number. then i would continue in this way until there was one number left. however, if there's two numbers left, you find the average (mean) of those two numbers to find the median. eh, i hope that made sense. |
