HELP ME WITH WINDOWS 98

hey wuts up. i normaly instal windows just fine, anyways, this church guy brung me his computer, cuz someone just gave it to him, its an old computer, he doesnt even know what it has, anyways i turned it on and i think it has a version of windows nt, either way, i still put the windows 98 starup disk, on the comp, and i chose start with cd rom support, but then eventually it says that it cant, cuz maybe the harddrive is running on some partition software, or that I have to make it fat32 or something, etc, like how do i go about just instaling windows 98 on it?

what you do is FORMAT the HD and then install windows all over again..
