Okay, well there is this guy that i met while volunteering this summer. well i saw him once and then we [me and his/my friends] kinda hanged out during my break. then i see him again and his friends are like he wants to go out with me and im kinda shocked because we don't even know each other. i didn't want to say no at first but i thats what i want to say. i mean i would like to be friends with him but you know how its awkward most of the time when you turn down a guy. he's really cool and i would like to keep it as friends but i don't know how to tell him. any suggestions?
and um -he's older than me by like 3 years -i don't think we'll see each other and im not into flings -i just broke up with someone... |

I agree with i_like_piratez. If his friends told you, and not him, they may be lying.
 If he actually asks you out, just tell him upfront how you feel. You just want to be friends. Hopefully, you can actually stay friends.
