Not...really. Everyone in my high school has one, and often plays them during studyhalls and class. Its not kiddy at all to be sitting around playing Golden Sun or Advance Wars while learning about Newton's theories of physics.

Sony is notorious for crappy hardware. Look at the broken PSXs and PS2s. Sony has this timed obsolesence thing going on.

you could go for psp or ds on this one; it depends on your taste.

How can you say that it would be a detriment? This is the GAMEBOY we're talking about. It's had a fifteen year reign as the number one handheld in existence. Its knocked down competitior after competitior. Hell, sometimes it even sells more than the three big nex gen consoles!

And just to be clear, the ACTUAL PSP is NOT sexy, and NOT pretty at all. Those pictures that Sony released a while back are NOT the real PSP.
