My mom expects me to be the best at everything (well mostly in school work and whatever) and when I can't she says some really mean things that make me feel horrible. Like today, I was writing something and she told me that my handwriting was really nasty and that if I don't learn how to write better I could neer get a job and no one would respect me and things like that. I know it doesn't seem like a big deal but it hurts and i just don't want her to keep saying stuff like that. I just don't know what to do

Hah! I don't mean to be the bitch here, but I think alot of people have those kind of zealous parents who want their kids to be a genius in everything. Don't think you're the only one. What to do? Tell them exactly how you feel about it. If they don't listen to you the first time, do it over and over again.

I got belted (hit by a belt), slapped, beat up, and I got shoes thrown at me for "talking back", but my relationship with my parents are better than ever now all because I stood up for myself.

Loving your parents does NOT mean letting them have their way all the time or shutting your emotions away for their sake.
