So, I was with some friends yesterday after having returned from the skate park. We were all tired and hungry so I decided I could heat up some Hot Pockets (by the way, if Hot Pockets are still in a freezer, shouldn't they be called Pockets?). Anyhow, we basically took turns heating each of our own (I'm not going to heat up every single one for everyone especially if I'm beat down after some gnarly shredding). I was in the kitchen when I saw one of my friends heating up his. Hot Pockets usually only take a minute and a half to heat up in my microwave, but he pressed "2" (which on my microwave, is a quick way to set the cooking time to 2 minutes). When it got to the 30 second mark, he opened the door, collected his food, and cleared the time. I, however, placed mine in, shut the door, and set it to exactly a minute and half. When the time was up, the microwaved beeped and bopped, I opened the door, and grabbed my delicacy.

The question here that I'm wondering is, who's "method" was lazier? He set his by quickly pressing 2 instead of when I had to set it to a specific time to cook and pressing 1, 3, 0. But then, he had to keep watch for the 30 second mark (a minute and half subtracted from the two minutes he set) so he could get his but all I had to do was just wait for the beep indicating the time was up (and during that time, I could have been doing whatever else for a minute and a half).

I don't know it's kind of weird to explain, though. Also, I think I devised an even lazier method of microwaving things that "require" you to let it cool down for a certain amount of time. So, basically, take the time you have to let it cool down and subtract it from the time you have to cook it. For example, I microwaved some spaghetti and meatballs and I had to cook it for 8 minutes and let it cool down for 2 minutes. When I had my "epiphany", I cooked it for 6 minutes and it came out perfect.

So, yeah. TL;DR, amirite?

i don't really think either of you were being "lazy", but i don't consider this kinda thing laziness really.

on the note of using microwaves though, something weird about me is that i prefer, when possible, to heat everything up for 36 seconds first. then after that i finish the rest of the time. i like 23 seconds too. i don't know why i started doing this but i have for years. i also hate myself for picking numbers like 36 and 23 which are harder to subtract than if i had just picked 10. i think i started doing 36 becuase the six is under the three so it was just like BAM. 23 probably because of michael jordan. even though it sounds stupid to say i decide my heating times based on nba players numbers.

i never thought about subtracting cool down time. i should try that. but you know what i hate most about microwaving? i hate when you warm something up and it ONLY WARMS UP THE f*ckING DISH. oh cool, i have 800 degree bowl with some lukewarm soup in it.
