I know there are lots of fashion-lovers or at least people who appreciate good fashion on CB. How do you explain this to people who don't understand? Usually, I just ignore people who don't get how there is an artistic side to anything that is aesthetically pleasing, but I hate it when they push the issue and try their hardest to make me feel like I'm an airhead for reading fashion blogs and window shopping. I feel like "fashion" is more than just following trends and buying clothes and spending ridiculous amounts of money.

How do you explain it to people who don't understand?

unless they spend all their time hunting food and fixing their shelter and gathering water and what not then i doubt they have much room to talk. i'm sure there are some pointless things that enhance their life.

it all depends on what it's being compared to. compared to the essentials of life...yeah fashion is completely and utterly useless. it's decoration. there isn't a point. compared to any other thing people enjoy it's the same shit. it's as useful as games, movies, sports, art, literature or anything else.

FASHION IS A TESTAMENT TO THE HUMAN CONDITION AND IT'S PROGRESS!

i don't really care about fashion, but i care about art and other things that are frivolous and i wouldn't be interested in living in a world absent of this stuff. otherwise i might as well be a raccoon or something.

i don't know how you explain to them other than pointing out something pointless they are interested in and hounding them about why they would care about something so unnecessary.
