this is a continuation of my last topic about my jaw hurting
http://www.createblog.com/forums/index.php...p;#entry3069716 i was thinking it was teeth clinching, but now since it's only on my right side and it's far back in my mouth i'm starting to think maybe it's my actual teeth. who's gotten their wisdom teeth out? how did it feel before you did? did your mouth hurt before? |

One day last fall I started feeling this terrible terrible terrible pain in the roof of my mouth (sort of near where my wisdom teeth would grow in) and within hours I couldn't open my mouth at all. It was horrible to eat/drink, talk, breathe, swallow.. etc.
I called my dentist about it and he prescribed antibiotics in case of any infection. The antibiotics helped a little bit, but the pain/inability to open my mouth was still pretty bad. So I then went to see my dentist, he took some xrays and it turned out it wasn't anything to do with wisdom teeth. Two weeks before I had this pain, I was sick with a viral infection. Apparently, some bacteria from the infection can get absorbed in the mouth and create these ulcers. So the pain, sore throat and inability to open my mouth all stemmed from this ulcer. He prescribed steroid ointment and within a few days/week it was feeling better. With the xrays we also learned that I only have one wisdom tooth and it hasn't given me any hassle yet. Hopefully it will stay like that and I won't have to get it taken out. |
