are you a competitive person? a sore loser? a bad sport?
i'm an awful sore loser. even in the smallest more pointless things. i play checkers with my brother every day. when i lose i flip out and get pissed. i can't stand losing that game to him. i always get mad because i rarely feel outplayed, i always feel like i lost to myself thanks to dumb not thinking moves and that there is no way someone could beat me at checkers. i used to kick the basketball and throw it at people when i lost too. my girlfriend gets pissed because she says i try to turn everything into a competition even if it's not. like if i were going to go to a driving range and hit golf balls, i'd want to keep count, so that i could hit more that whoever i'm with, therefore winning. i think this is a rather obnoxious trait probably, but i can't help it, i just can't stand to lose games. |

"always go in it to win... and to learn" - friend of mine
i think i'm a pretty gracious loser. i used to believe that if the other person really wanted to win more than i did, then it's ok for me to let him win. my views have changed since then, and slowly i realized that by losing purposely, i'm just hindering the other person as well as myself. so now i always play to win. when i lose, i don't beat myself up over it --at least not in public. |
