interests or lack there of Options

i think one of my biggest pet peeves is people who don't seem to be interested in anything. you ask them what they are interested in and they can't even hardly give an answer, or they can only think of one or two things. why are people so uninteresting? do you feel you are an interested person?

i think a big problem for me is that the people i come across are "so different" that they all end up being similar in my eyes. i feel like all these artists/ musicians/ creative ass people all slowly but surely evolve into beings created from the same mold, albeit with slight deformities. i find myself saying, "get off your pedestal; you're not that different."

so when someone asks me my interests, i rarely even answer truthfully anymore. i really hate the question "what type of music do you listen to?/ what's your favorite music" because i find it's a very uninteresting question. no one i know limits themselves to certain types of music, and neither do i believe in strict musical genres in the first place. what one person would consider "rock/hip hop/trance/pop/etc" would be something else to someone else. so yeah, if someone asked me that question, i would retort with the typical "i listen to anything./ i like all music." generic question deserves generic reply.

...although, i do admit that i usually give that answer to someone with whom i don't feel like having a deep conversation. i guess in that sense it translates as a shoo away.

I am someone who thinks that the kind of music you listen to shows a little bit of whom you are. I also believe that they way you dress shows a little bit of your personality. I understand someone who says 'I'm not really picky when it comes to music but I really like classical music'. Personally, I love soft rock. 70 and 80s rock. Doesn't mean I don't like other music genres. I listened to Young Forever by Jay Z and M. Hudson today and I loved it. But in general, I don't listen to that kind of music. I think the question 'what kind of music do you listen to' is absolutely valid. And I find people who answer 'everything' confused. I don't see how possible it is to listen and like everything.

I love music and I love talking about music. My neighbour and I who rarely talked are now 'close' thanks to music. We were both online late on facebook and he posted a youtube video. I replied and he talked to me on the chat. And we found out that we both loved Muse. I discovered music I never knew existed. I don't know, maybe it's just me.
