Do you ever do it? Like maybe there's something you need to do, but for some reason you're too scared or lazy or whatever so you talk yourself out of doing it which then leads to missed opportunities, closed doors, etc.
I got an in-person interview for the hospital job I really want. It'll be a great resume booster, awesome experience, etc. Except I'm so nervous, I'm psyching myself out and I've even considered sending an "I'm sick, can't come to the interview" email. There is a good chance that my nerves will overcome my reason and I'm not gonna go to the stupid interview, not gonna get the job, not gonna get to med school, not gonna be a doctor. T_T :( |

I used to do that, and I still do a little, but not much. I've recently just decided I should be more outgoing, confident, and (somewhat) independent. If there's something I don't really want to do because I'm afraid I'll mess up then I always have this little "buzz" going on in my head "telling" me I shouldn't do it just to avoid humiliation but then I somehow just start to overcome it and forget about it and do just fine. And even if I do mess up, I just kinda ignore it and brush it off as a "no biggie". It feels pretty good to just stand up and stand out for yourself instead of hiding in fear and anxiety.
