im wondering how long it should take for me or anybody in general to say "i love you" first? and WHO should say it first?? is it the same old rule still where the guy should it first?

im just afraid of scaring my guy off or be like WTF? i really do want to say it first but the fear of rejection and scaring him off are things im worried about. also, we're not bf/gf yet, dating for almost 3months now..but we've said it in other ways/forms of i love you but not the legit "i love you" form. plus im thinking it maybe too quick but then a friend of mine said i should just say bc i wouldnt be feeling like this if it wasnt what i felt and so that way he just knows and its better than not ever telling him at all. and if he doesnt say it back that it doesnt mean he doesnt care, hes just not ready.

im just real confused right now.

I don't think anyone would want the person they're dating to lie to them, but I also don't think anyone would want to date someone if the feelings weren't mutual. Even if it might suck to hear that he can't say it back to you, it's better than him lying and you falling more in love with him.
