Okay...what'd I do wrong. I Googled, but cnet was of no help (and it's pretty much all that came up).

If you can't do a system restore, you may have to reinstall. Of course that would f*ck up GRUB (or lilo, whatever bootloader you happen to ues), and you would have to reinstall Linux too (which isn't an issue if you did your partitioning well).
