I didn't know where exactly to post this but I thought it would fit best here. This is reallly long and its full of bull drama and I'm sorry but this is truly what happened...
So, my friend is having a baby and me and my friend offered to throw her a baby shower. We agreed to split the costs. Then, another lady named Liz (a lady that me and the mom-to-be used to work with) offered to help also. She had the great idea of having the baby shower (instead of at my house) at the Sheraton, Hotel. She said that she knew how much money it would cost and she would love to pay for it. It would include a room and all the food. She insisted that she wanted to do that and that it would be her contribution to the baby shower fund or whatever. We agreed that she would call me the next day to work it all out and I would find the Sheraton phone number for her. So, come three weeks later, after numerous calls, text messages, and voice mails that she was too "busy" to respond to, she still hadn't contacted me at all. I had called the Sheraton (about two weeks before) and talked to a lady who reserved the room for us and made a contract with me. So I was trying to call Liz to let her know that all she needed to do was make an appointment with the lady and pay. Not too hard right? I made it easy for her... Anyways, so this whole time (when I was trying to get a hold of her) I was trying to send the invites out so that people had time to RSVP but I couldn't because I wanted to make sure that Liz was for sure paying for the Sheraton. So, finally she calls me and tells me that she called the Sheraton lady and that it was okay for me to send the invites out. Wonderful. Sent. ...So, a week before the baby shower, she calls me and says that the Sheraton is too expensive. WTF. But I am a pretty chill person so I'm like "whatever" and she offered to have it at her house. She also said she would still cover the food and drinks. I was fine with that and me and the mom-to-be called all the guests and changed the address. No big deal. So...my other friend whom is supposed to be splitting the costs with me... yes, her. Well, we go shopping and buy the decorations which cost both of us $10.00. Then we went and bought the prizes for the games which cost both of us $9.00. Is that a shit load of money or something? I don't think so. So, today I went and ordered the cake which was $17.00 and the balloons which were $15.00. I also went and bought the rest of the stuff we needed (like plates, napkins, game supplies, etc.) and that cost me $15.00 and I wasn't going to make her pay for half of that because I'm a nice person. So, today after telling my friend that she needed to pay half the cost of the cake and half the cost of the balloons ($16.00) she freaked out and said that "This is out of hand. I don't have anymore money to spend. I did not budget for this kind of party and I'm dipping into my food funds. No more. I'm not made of money like you guys apparently are." Um, If I did my calculations right, all she would have to spend was $35.00. Is that a lot????? I spent more money than her.. WTF. So, as to why I posted this story... Am I right to think that these two girls are FREAKING ANNOYING? What the hell. A baby shower isn't cheap!! Ugh... !! You should have "budgeted." You had 2 months notice!!! ??? Let me know. ![]() |
