I took Philosophy and kind of liked it. But the majority of the students would complain about it while we were waiting for class to start. We had to write papers instead of taking tests, but we had a test for our exam. Even though I got A's on my papers, I wouldn't be able to tell you a damned thing about what I wrote about lol I'm taking my math online this year. I couldn't find a class time that fit into my schedule and since I'm incredibly behind in math (and haaaaaate math) I want to get it over with. I think I would like the more abstract parts of Philosophy more than the logical. The one I took was all extremely common-sense knowledge and very very tedious. Kind of like watered-down math, actually. But I think I would've hated being evaluated on my Philosophy papers! And as much as I disliked phil last year, I'm taking another form of the subject again this year, but not online. Hopefully the professor is good enough to pique my interest. omgaw! How dare you insult math! >:@ Haha if you didn't know, math = all time favourite subject. I just can't take it anymore cus I'm scared of taking courses full of obnoxious douchebags (all the math majors I've met are complete d-bags, yes). Teesa - ilu! Although I feel better, the part you quoted is still how I feel. UGH. Really don't see this being a good year. |

I had to write papers about Compatibilism, objective moral reasoning, universal truths, Mill, Kant, Hume... all that good stuff. I was always kind of nervous about handing in my papers because my professor was so knowledgeable about it. She always wanted me to go into more depth in my papers. I know you love math! You want to do mine? I'm only in College Algebra. I was in Intermediate Algebra last year. I'm really bad at math. I didn't take any math classes after my Sophomore year of high school because I had a terrible teacher. She would get irritated and turn off the overhead and we'd never get our notes. I tried to ask her for help once, and she told me "Maybe you're just too stupid to be in my class." ![]() |

Mill, Kant, Hume... all that good stuff. Immanuel Kant was cool - probably more useful to me in class than J.S. Mill. No wonder I aced my final. Too bad I had to read and write about some other authors (who were NOT memorable) for my midterm, and that totally screwed over my grades in the spring. ![]() AND WTF, what kind of math teacher would say that?! AUGH that reminds me of my stupid pre-calculus teacher (took it my sophomore year in HS) who thought that because I was ahead one year in math, that I didn't need her help or anything. What a bitch - if I see her face again, I'll tell her straight up what a horrible math teacher she is and that she should go back and learn how to TEACH students, instead of being all high-and-mighty. Also, she needs to stop bragging about her "oh-so-smart" daughter who ended up dropping out of college to work and moved out of her house. Honestly, her daughter can do WHATEVER she wants, but this math teacher was such a pain in the ass about things. ![]() /RANT But anyway, before her, I had this awesome Intermediate Algebra teacher who would bring in food for us. The downside is that someone stole my book (but returned it for me at the end of the year), so I had to do all my homework weeks in advance. still got an A+ in the class, but damn, I felt like such a nerd, since I had to use books that other students left behind on a temp. shelf, so I never knew if there would be a book there or not. So yea, I guess this fueled my love for math? Yep, then I ended up doing mediocre in the "advanced math for science & engineering majors", and that ended my short-lived love for math. DAMN YOU, YOU FOREIGN TEACHER WRITING ALL THESE CRAZY RADICALS AND EQUATIONS ON THE BOARD! USELESS ![]() /END OFFICIAL MATH RANTS. So um... I'm going to be taking a music class (GE) about symphony music. I'm kinda scared because I don't know ANYTHING about symphony music... ![]() |
