I think I'm in that 2% of the population who doesn't think Tarantino is brilliant. He's entertaining, yeah, but none of his work is exactly mind-blowing. I'm more partial to John Maybury, David Lynch and yeah...even Shyamalan.

Shameless plug. I do agree though. Watching Basterds the second time around got me thinking. A lot of his cinematographic techniques aren't very original, and he tends to mash styles together in a way that often is annoying. It worked pretty well in Basterds, I'll admit though, and I liked it a lot. There was though a ridiculous amount of tension, and the dialogue kind of gave you the runaround. |
