OK, I don't know why, but my eyes are just not used to seeing dark layouts, so when I make them, my brain starts sending a bad signal to my eyes telling me to hate them.....

eh, I thought I saw it on an actual site before. didn't know it was a tutorial. But eh, it's kinda like using someone else's design for your own. ie. stealing.
