At the moment, ATI/AMD is the way to go. Ten years ago, Intel/Ati was the way to go. Up until about eight months ago, it was Intel/Nvidia. I'm sure in another year or two, Intel/Nvidia will be the best choice again.
Don't accuse me of being a fanboy either. I'm rocking a Q6600 and a 9800 GT right now. If I could swap it out for a 955 and a 4890x2, I would do it, but equal or only slightly greater, no way. Here buttsex, I'll save him some more money. He won't even have to purchase an expensive xfire board. If he buys a 4850 X2. :D http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814102809 That's an extra 30 dollars over what I went with. I would have to really skimp on the mobo to switch to that, and the mobo is something I really don't like to skimp on. Also, regarding the original build, Q8xxx is Intel's worst series of quads. The only real gems out of Intel's quads are the Q6600 and the Q9550, and the Q6600 has gotten so expensive lately, you're better off getting the Q9550. |
