Like Thomas pointed out, the main image has been lowered in quality. It looks like an image that's been saved in GIF format. I know you and your friend can do more than just rectangles to mark the content section. There are thousands of fonts, millions even, that you could have chosen, and you landed on that? It's all rough and grungy, which is totally opposite to the feel of the images you used. Finally, allow me to introduce you to ColourLovers. There are a lot of colour palettes you can choose from there so pick a decent one and stop sticking to black and white. Seriously, mate.
