That's actually incorrect, the risk of getting a virus with a Mac is just as high as with a PC. I have used PC's for years without Anti Virus software and never had a problem, I just installed one because I am beta testing it on Windows7.

My iMac had a iTunes virus the first few days I was using it, and I don't have any pirated software on my iMac like I do on my PC.

Also, the main reason Macs or anything running a Apple OS don't get penetrated as much, is because Apple views all it's users as kids. You can't get into a Apple OS as a user as you can a Windows OS, which is in some cases a good thing, and in others not.

The guy selling me my iMac at the Apple store tried to sell me his product on the notion that it's less venerable, I now view him as an idiot, although I did buy the iMac..... That's beyond the point.....

i don't even really get how these two make sense in the same post much. but to be honest, i don't believe you that the risk of getting a virus on a mac is as high as a pc.

why have i gotten none on my mac and many on my pc? why has no one i've known gotten one on their mac and many on their pc? shrugs, my experience so far as been that it's not the same risk.

that's unfortunate. it's been two/three years and i've yet to have one single virus problem and i do have some pirated stuff.

i do think it's less vulnerable because all my experience and those i've known has pointed to it being less vulnerable. if it were equally as vulnerable, then i'd assume there would be way more mac users with viruses and in need of virus protection. if at the end of the day pc users are having more frequent issues with viruses than mac users then i don't think it's equal.

Yea, I contradicted myself a little, whoops.

To say that you have gotten 0 "threats" on your mac without running software that would tell you is insane. Unless you read every line of code in your Mac. Some threats just sit there gathering information, and if you don't do what it wants you to do, there isn't anything to gather. I am sure, that there is the possibility that there is something in your mac that you didn't want there threat wise.

That's how my iMac got infected, I thought I was safe and didn't need to run anything, and then once I installed a update for iTunes I got f*cked. So, it had to be waiting, unless Apple knew I didn't like their products, so they got some good lulz and gave me an infected file.

The apple tech or w/a you want to call him said that I had a MP3 file that was just waiting for iTunes to update, but the funny thing is, the file they said did it, I bought off iTunes..... Which still leaves me questioning things........
