Have any of you taken to the Netbook/Netop fad yet?
Have you built a computer using the intel ATOM processor?
Are you excited about the upcoming nvidia 9400m on the ION platform?

My sister owns an Acer Aspire One. I like it, but the keyboard is a bit cramped.

I don't really see the appeal of netbooks, for a couple of reasons:
  1. I never really feel a need to carry around a small computer. I work as a programmer, so during my off-time, I prefer to get as far away from computers as possible, unless I'm playing games or something. If I need to have a computer, I'll carry around my laptop. But mostly, I feel it's good for me to not be in constant email/Internet contact all of the time.
  2. If I wanted a small, Internet-enabled device for browsing the web or sending email (which is about all netbooks seem to be good for), I'd just spring for an iPhone. Netbooks seem to fill an uncomfortable niche between smartphones and laptops: they're not nearly as powerful as a "real" laptop, but they're not small enough to carry around in one's pocket or shoulder bag.
I'll hang on to my rather powerful laptop and rather portable cell phone.
