Is it necessarily a bad idea to use a background image of 1024px in width in a div layout?

Some people still have 800x600 screens, but I'm not even sure if they make many computers that small anymore. It's ideal to accommodate all screen resolutions, but as long as it fits 1024x768 screens, you'll be fine.
