Marijuana users suffer from the lungs more than regular smokers, researchers reported in a recent study. In fact, marijuana can cause more lung damage than 2.5 to five cigarettes. The researchers said that cannabis, the plant source of marijuana, was associated with a dose-related impairment of the large airways, causing airflow obstruction and hyperinflation. But unlike cigarette smoking, cannabis was rarely associated with macroscopic emphysema.

Cannabis is the most widely used illegal drug worldwide. Long-term use of marijuana is known to cause chronic bronchitis and airflow obstruction, but the prevalence of macroscopic emphysema, the dose-response, and the dose equivalence of cannabis with tobacco had not been determined yet. In a study were investigated 339 adults, ages 18 to 70. They were recruited from the Wellington region and putted into four groups: cannabis only (75 people), tobacco only (92 people), combined cannabis and tobacco (91), and non-smokers of either substance (81).

More tar, apart from the long-term effects it has on the brain. Many people in hospital with mental health issues have been on cannabis. I sure wouldn't want to become a patient!

Hence why all the big potheads in my school have 0.8 GPA's and have trouble remembering things. If Marijuana is so good for you, why is it illegal? I'm sure the Government would look at the articles you just posted and legalize it right away if there were 0 reported deaths from Marijuana and that it doesn't cause cancer or even brain damage and it's healthy!!! If Marijuana is so good, what was the big deal about Paris Hilton and Michael Phelps smoking Mari J? Why did it get so much attention (Magazine, Articles, Newspapers) I thought it's healthy for you? And since cigarettes are so bad, much more worse than weed, all the big name celebrities should be on the cover of a magazine with big letterings, "CIGARETTE SMOKER" right ?? Haha ... hey seriously, why is Weed illegal then? Doesn't cause death or brain damage ... it doesn't mess you up psycologically at all. It's healthy for you and gets you high. It's actually illegal because when it got big in the US many mexicans came into america, so Cali. made it illegal, and the rate of Mexicans in amerca actually did get lower. And its a big deal when celeberties smoke pot because its illegal, not because its "bad" for you. And there is a brain cell fueled by marijuana.
