Anyone like him?
I'm still slightly unnerved that this is Aubrey Graham, of Degrassi fame, but his mixtape isn't that bad. It's actually pretty good, the best I've heard since Wale's Mixtape About Nothing. I'm still not thoroughly convinced as his lyrical content hasn't matured yet, but it's worth a few listens. The thing is, Young Money has had talent on their roster. The talent just never delivered. Curren$y is nice as hell (and was a polar opposite of Weezy in style and substance), but he blew his advance, lost focus, tried side projects and eventually got booted from the click. I think Drake will be fine. He'll have a little bit of freedom if he does get signed to Young Money. Then again, I haven't heard any confirmation on his status with them. The last I heard, there was a huge major label bidding war fighting over who was going to get him (with Universal and Interscope leading the pack). |
