When designing a website, d'you optimise for the teeny 800x600 or do you put the minimum width good for a 1024x760? I personally run a 1280x800, so trying to cram all my stuff into <800px is often a discouraging challenge, and I wonder if I should even bother. Most people I've talked to run at least 1024x760, and I'm wondering if it's time to stop catering to anything below that (if we can do it to IE6, can't we do it to this?!).

I usually design by percent, and not by a set resolution.
If I design to XGA, it looks tiny on anything higher than WXGA+; and if I design to QSXGA, I get massive overflow on just about every screen. |
