What happens when you feel like you're family isn't your family anymore? Whether its because of an overall unfamiliarity or a falling out, what do you when you feel so far removed from them, that they no longer are much of a priority?

Is it possible to bond with people who aren't related to you in such a way that they replace the need or want for the family you already have?

Discuss.

I actually don't speak to my mom anymore due to her controlling husband. I actually have lived with my aunt for almost a year and my mom hates the closeness that my aunt and I have always had. I think that I won't ever speak to my mom again just because of all of the shady stories I have heard about her. Sucks though because I can't be there to teach my lil bro certain things or to watch my lil sis grow up.

must be some really shady stories........

i suppose friends can replace family. i always hear people saying that about their friends, that they are like family. so i'm guessing a lot of people feel that way. i don't get how personally, but that's me. i've never had a friend i cared about even 1/16th as much as a family member other than my girlfriend. but i duno cause i have a tight family. maybe if my family sucked then i would be able to attempt to replace them with unrelated people. i feel sorry for a lot of people who aren't close with their family.
