Im not new to CB but I am new to layout design. I have looked through the forum here for answer to some questions before I start designing however there was one that I didn't see an answer for.
Could someone give me some tips/info on the proper ways to credit images, textures, fonts, and whatnot on a layout? Do I have to put credit on the image I use as a watermark? Or could/do I put it in the layout somewhere or is it just enough to credit in my layout description? Could I use images from DeviantART provided I have permission from the original artist, as well as give proper credit as to who the artist is and where I got the image? Any info you can give me would be a great help and greatly appreciated. I would hate to spend all that time on a layout to have it rejected for something as simple as the crediting. Also, does anyone know any good places to get really good graphics? Thank you. |

This thread addresses some of the major credit issues. Don't be intimidated by it though. I think that most deviantart submitters are happy to give permission, they just want to be acknowledged for their work.
I don't think that watermarks are necessary, but if you're submitting a layout (or using a layout) that utilizes someone else's artwork, credit and link in the layout itself is usually ok. It's still nice to communicate to the artist that you wish to use some of their work in your work. Make sure to not use someone else's style sheet. Learn how to code on your own. :) |

A lot of people don't mind giving out permissions, they just want to feel good about their work and feel flattered that someone is actually wanting to use their work. I have a full page on my site of every site/person that I got my resources from. I like to let them visit the site too and see what they think that way they know that you are not just using them and actually interacting with them. |
