X Windows is the method for displaying GUI elements on Linux. I still haven't found a way to run iTunes, PS and other Windows-based programs without it lagging tremendously. Is there a way around this? |

I still haven't found a way to run iTunes, PS and other Windows-based programs without it lagging tremendously. Is there a way around this? If you're using WINE, there's not really a more efficient way. (Although in theory, WINE isn't an emulator, just a set of libraries, so there shouldn't be a big performance decrease. In theory.) You could always run Linux-native versions of those programs. Amarok is a good substitute for iTunes (I hear Banshee is good if you want a GNOME-native program). The GIMP is a fair substitute for PhotoShop for 99% of tasks. Etc. etc. |
