Just wanted to have a discussion here.
In 2004, I joined xangans.com in search for my layouts for my emo-angst teenage child years. Instead of finding layouts, I found a community. Xangans was a very important part of my young life. Talking to people like Grace, Christine, uhh...other people. (Sorry, can't remember much names.) Xangans thought me a lot of things about life, and I did grow up a little because of Xangans. Then I left for a while, and then I came back to see that Xangans was createblog, and Seonho was a huge f****t.(No offense to gays, I frequent 4chan too much and I have become desensitized of that word.) Either way, It was changed and all different, so I just left. Repeat twice or so. At this point, Trish had made the site cliqueMB or some shit. I don't remember, but it was cool, and I posted there. Then drama happened because of Micron and Trish saying she couldn't post on CB cause of her other site. So she left. Anyways, it was boring, so I left. So now I come back and I see this shit with Suzette and her being a really big bitch. So I said, oh damn, what the f*ck, where are all these black people coming from? (Cause CB was primarily an Asian site, don't lie.) So I just posted Angel_r0h type threads, ie. "Socks - Do you like them?" and shit like that. But obviously that bothered Suzette(bitch) and she started to stop it. Naturally, since I was posting out of boredom, I became quite pissed. Eventually Kryogenix and I paired up to fight because Kryo was planning to troll CB because of some CB Liberation shit. But honestly, I just wanted to see Suzette fail. Either way, she f*cked up somehow. Truthfully, I don't even think Kryo and I really needed to be there. Because she was going to trip up somewhere in her lies. So she lies and whatever she goes f*cking bitch crazy and destroys the server. (This was right before Uronacid posted an awesome thread about me, which was very flattering. But honestly, I really did nothing.) Then CB was cool, kinda boring. Then there was some drama with Trish being admin and some nudes being spread out. It was interesting, but but it got boring. I left again about half a summer ago. So recently, I come back to CB (about 2 months now? Perhaps one) and I see that CB has gotten very very slow. Members are died[forum activity wise] and population is at an all time low. Posted around, kinda' spammed around my fashion folder because I had nothing else to do online. Then I left up until about 2 days ago. This is recent. During the time I left again was spent on 4chan's /k/ section. Many luls were to be had. Also, during that time I read and studied up on Middle Eastern politics and religion. Also became a gun fanatic. But anyways. Now that I'm back, I realized something. I found out why I tend to leave CB and come back every time with a little bit of disappointment in my heart. CB was and is an awesome site for me. Imagine someone studying our community. We actually had hierarchies and diplomacy. We actually had an intelligent self growing virtual civilization here. However, every time I do come back, I realize it's not as great as it was. CB is dying, and I realized I'm growing old. No longer does drama interest me so much, and I cannot keep up with the trolling in this site. I tend to enjoy communities with more strict laws and rules in the forum section. Why? Don't ask. It is 2009 now, and I have been here for five years. But I have to say; CB no longer entertains me like so. The internet has become more of a research place for me, rather than a way for social means. I mean, the debate section here is complete shit, and also the lounge is nothing but stupid threads about stupid shit. But I mean, don't get me wrong, I like the inside joke threads, those are funny. Seriously, funny. as. shit. Anyways, maybe I'll lurk occasionally. BTW, did illmortal become more tolerable recently? I swear he's not annoying me mush. -edit: anyone who asks for tl;dr will be curb-stomped. |

I read the whole thing and honestly, it was an overall, very pleasurable read.
I remember you as Podo, the guy who constantly posted nazi this and nazi this. The guy who I remember, bashing me quite a bit for doing what at the time, I thought was right, as far as moderating here goes. I too, have learned a lot from my time here. I believe it was you, who had said something along the lines of me getting of the internet and spending more time with my son. The words pierced some, but I understood and respected your point of view. Of course a mother should spend more time offline than on. : ) I stay here, post often because I’m at a point where the break from ‘reality’ is nice. I don’t take things too seriously (unless a remark is so personal that it’s unforgiveable) here as often as I used to and because of that, I enjoy lounging about forums. It’s nice to have a place where I can chat briefly about a variety of tv shows, art, food, etc. At cB, it’s hectic sometimes and the forums feel a little schizophrenic. Meaning, the organization and the topics vary quite a bit. That’s also the allure, that randomness that makes this place charming at times. I’ve always told people that if you don’t want to be here, you shouldn’t be here and I have never meant that in an insulting or demeaning way. I like people to be happy and I prefer that people enjoy their time online, even if it’s somewhere else on the cyberplanet. On a personal level, I’m sorry to see such an intelligent person not want to hang out here more, but I also completely understand. The forums aren’t evolving the way you might have wished they would have by now. I think that there are a lot of variables contributing to that. Without intending disrespect, part of that, in my opinion, is the lack of valid and legitimate community support from the site owner. Part of the lack of evolution is that people grow up and move on. They have jobs, lives and want to engage in more in depth conversation, be it intellectual or just casual speculative conversation. Many members here don’t seem to have the focus or desire to put much thought into what they post. They prefer the fly-by posting. That’s my opinion though. Sorry that was so long. I’m quite long-winded. |

I’m quite long-winded. My main aim was to write an entertaining post, so I suppose I did an OK job. You also hit it on the ball, this whole time I was trying to say that CB has a strange allure that keeps attracting people. I don't know how. It's funny that you say say "break from reality" because I think I tended to use CB for that as well. Usually by verbally attacking everyone here. Stress relief, I think. I was going through a lot personally when I was trolling here. I don't remember what though, too busy with drawing swastikas on Suzette's forehead. Now that I think about it, that's funny as shit. HAHA. Well, it was mean either way. |
