Cutenews Date ?, help!! Options

Okay, I just installed cutenews, and everything seems to be working, but I have a question. How do I make the date or the no. of comments show as an image...not exactly as an image, but I want it to have a background image, like swimchick.net, see how the the number of comments has a background image ? How do I do it ??

swimchick.net is using textpattern, not cutenews, but it works about the same way.

i'm not entirely sure how the HTML for cutenews is set up, but i did look at a couple sites that are using cutenews. it looks like you'll have to go to the area in the control panel that allows you to change the layout. where the code is that displays the date and number of comments, surround that with something like this:

<span class="number">[number of comments]</span>

then you can simply add styling properties in your site's style sheet:
