I have a Visa card that I got through my bank that I use for shopping online. It's safer than using a credit card for me. There are some websites that don't accept it, though. (When I pay I select Visa credit card.) It automatically re-issues itself an expiration date so I don't have to pay a fee.
If you're going to go through MasterCard, make sure that your domain doesn't charge monthly and that it's only once that year, because Mastercard does NOT allow you to use the gift card for something that is a reoccurring fee. Like credit cards, they have an expiration date, I think they only last for a year. I just looked it up and there is $9.95 fee if you still have money on your card at the end of the year and have to get a new card. Your card is, in fact, only good for a year.
