Shuttle looming is a more time-consuming weaving process that produces denim of a tighter weave resulting in a heavier weight fabric that lasts. tl;dr raw denim is basically denim in it's purest form. it's very high quality and very strong. but there is a growing population of people who take the jean's fading process into almost a cult type art. religious wear of jeans are required, plus having the swagger to wear smelly ass jeans for a year. over time, the jeans will conform to your body. that's how the fades are made. but since it does conform to your body, it ALWAYS looks good because you get a fitted pair of jeans that look like they were hand made for you. once you wash the denim, it'll actually change color with a lot of contrast. it might seem dull to some people, but a lot of people consider wearing jeans to be an art. (this is a huge subculture of people in japan who religiously study, measure, wear, and fade jeans) thus sometimes that's why Made In Japan denim is usually more desired because it's higher quality. damn, my tl;dr was longer than the quote -edit got my jeans stretched a little bit, they look OK now; but i'm waiting for my crotch area to become a bit softer, lol
