When you write, which writers are most influential in your work?
I've taken a long hiatus from writing seriously, but I think that the writing of Tennessee Williams is influencing me the most write now -- probably because I've read a lot by him lately, but also because his themes and ideas have most driven my creativity as of late. What about you? |

I would say, James Ellroy. I haven't written about "crime" necessarily, but his tone is something that has crept into my subconscious. I've always liked noir, with comedic undertones.
Dorothy Parker is a major influence of mine. Her sarcasm, her wit, her utter lack of fear has been a constant source of inspiration throughout my life. The woman was downright ferocious. At the same time though, she was insecure, heartbroken and a total drunk (during certain (and most) periods of her life). |
