So I'm planning on going to San Diego Comic Con again this year - this would make my third year in a row, except this time I won't be going as an exhibitor (hopefully I'll actually get to enjoy it this time). The problem is since I'm not going on business, my trip's not paid for; so I'm responsible for getting the hotel situation sorted out. Looking at hotel rates in San Diego made me want to cry (I'm not going alone, so I want something reasonable for the people I have to split the costs with). I thought about renting a condo that'll sleep around 6 people - the problem with that is that most listings I've come across require a full week stay, and I'm hoping to get away with only staying 3-4 nights. Online listings have been horrible and I'm not getting anywhere.
So my question is for those of you who live in the San Diego area - does anyone have any advice for something relatively inexpensive that isn't too terribly far from the convention center (distance is flexible at this point)? I'm hoping to bring a reasonably sized group, so my preference would be a vacation rental of some sort. Anyone else who has any similar experience and wants to offer advice is welcome. |

Crack whore house, you\'d fit right in. Thanks for the suggestion! Nerd. Well, it's not as if I've ever denied that.. :P There's always Craigslist. I've been keeping an eye on craigslist - the only problem I've come across is that the listings are sort of overrun by vacation rental websites so it's hard to pick through them all to find something worth looking at. Most of them are listings I've already seen, or I run into the same issue - peak vacation period, they require me to stay for at least a week, and rates are outrageous compared to normal times of the year. I did find one place but I'm waiting for the woman to send me the reservation forms. She hasn't been great with communication and I'm worried she'll reserve it for someone else. I've never rented a place for a short time or stayed at a hotel in San Diego, since I live in San Diego. Haha I live 5 minutes from downtown SD so I've been to Comic-Con for the past 3 years as well ;x WTH DANI HOW COME I NEVA SEE J00?! Dude I've probably walked past you like a million times, then, and never knew it. Weird! I was with a guy I had been maintaining a website for, so I didn't get to do much walking around, but there's a good chance we ran into each other. :) |
