Navigation look problem Options

I have tried to do other layouts before and never had this problem.

My Navigation look, you know the background color isn't going the way I want it. It is only big to the length of the word.

So please if anyone can, help, what am I doing wrong? I want it to look even.

I can't see the pic, stupid slow school comp :P
But if it's text links, you can add:
display: block;
to make it even, and you can also add:
width: XXpx;
if you want a certain width.
