I need to write a paragraph (7-8 sentences) about these 5 topics:

1. Describe the forming of the American Colonies. How was Britain's view of the New World different than that of France and Spain? What was the economic system used by the British? Explain this relationship. What led to problems between the colonies and England? How did these problems play out?

2. Discuss the key events in forming the American Government. What were the major issues that needed to be dealt with? Who were the key contributors? What compromises were made?

3. Discuss the events that led to the United States gaining control of the lands west of the Appalachian Mountains. Start at the end of the Revolutionary war and continue until manifest destiny is obtained. Explain the Acts and events that led to populating the west.

4. Describe the compromises that kept the union together between 1787-1854.What acts of Congress and decisions by the Supreme Court allowed the north and south to continue living half free and half slave?

5. Describe the advantages that the north and south had prior to the breakout war in 1861. What would have been your prediction for the outcome of the war in 1861? Why did it take so long for the war to end? What changes did the north make in the middle of the war to finally win?
