overlay layout help, how to create one

I know creatblog gives you a tutorial, but I still need help. I'm a little confused. I want to create my own triple h overlay layout, because I can't find any on here, or anywhere else, and every time I go to a generator, it confuses me even more. I might sound dumb posting this topic, but any help?

Try this one or this one. The second one should be of great help, if you don't like the createBlog one very much.
