I have a particular distaste for poems. generally, i feel poetry is contrived and formulaic. of course there are brilliant ones, but too many crappy ones flood the literary world.

Yes; it sucks so much that I continue to write poetry.
 I love poetry and I will never stop writing my emotions down on paper. It makes me feel good writing how I am feeling. Good or bad...
